The National Civil War Museum

Touted as the only museum in America that tells the complete story of the Civil War from the first shots taken at Fort Sumter to the surrender at Appomattox Court House.  Located atop the hill inside beautiful Reservoir Park, the museum is a can’t miss when visiting Harrisburg.

Taking great care to present a humanistic view of the struggle that forever altered the course of American history, its 21,000 archival pieces and ongoing educational series share tales from both sides of the battle in hopes of creating a stronger Union today.

The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum

Located inside
an historic, Victorian-era firehouse dating back to 1899, this unique museum shares heroic stories of the men, women, and animals who answered the call when their neighbors were most in need.

Located in the heart of Harrisburg’s Olde Uptown neighborhood, PNFM features a wide array of historic artifacts and photos showing the evolution of firefighting from colonial days to modern times. Collecting items and photographs from across Pennsylvania, it’s a great way to get in touch with your community’s roots while sharing a fun afternoon with the kids!

Open Tuesday through Sunday, the museum is 100% operated by volunteers and welcomes interested members throughout the year.

Susquehanna Art Museum

Art Museum near Harrisburg, PAWorking to serve as a fountain spring of creativity while fostering greater engagement of the visual arts within the community, SAM at the Marty provides a space for artists to develop their skills and showcase their inspiring works.
